Dr. Andrea Lein was interviewed for a special series for parents by Authority Magazine.

…Acknowledge and normalize their feelings. Children vary in how much emotion they outwardly show, but regardless of how much they’re able to express, parents are wise to attend to these emotions, help put words to them, and normalize the emotional experience as much as possible. For example, many children have experienced increased anxiety during the pandemic. They may be nervous about going back to school in person, playing with other children, or leaving the safety of their home.
